Leadership Kanawha Valley is sponsored by Chesapeake Energy and exists to develop, educate and nurture future leaders in our region and to engage them and today’s leaders in making the Kanawha Valley an excellent place to live and work. 

The Leadership Kanawha Valley program enables participants to:

  • Gain knowledge of the business, government, community and quality of life in the Kanawha Valley,
  • Gain valuable skills to enhance leadership effectiveness,
  • Apply knowledge and skills learned in the program through volunteer opportunities at a wide variety of organizations in the Kanawha Valley,
  • Forge new alliances with other professionals and create a stronger network of contacts.

Class participants represent small business, industry, health care, finance, government and non-profits and take part in a quality educational experience spanning eight sessions including quality of life, education, business development and leadership skills training.  Classes have been held at various locations throughout the Kanawha Valley, giving participants a personal look at government facilities, small and large businesses and an area high school.
