Incubator for Small Business

Our small business incubator is a perfect fit for a wide range of start-up businesses and entrepreneurs with interests in technology as well as businesses offering a product or service that has the potential to help create new jobs. 

The operation of the Charleston Area Alliance's small business incubator is just one of our many efforts promoting entrepreneurship and creating jobs in the Kanawha Valley region of West Virginia. Our goal is simple... to provide an affordable office and warehouse environment, along with the guidance and consulting necessary to make sure your start-up or expanding business succeeds and enhances the economic development efforts in our region.


Located off Exit 100 of I-64/I-7, at the gateway to downtown Charleston, the 70,000 square foot converted warehouse is within walking distance of Capitol Market, the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences, Appalachian Power Park, and the Mary Price Ratrie Greenspace.

Criteria for tenant selection:

  • Applicants should be a new start-up or a home-based business, or a new business looking to open an office in the Charleston region. 
  • All applicants must submit a business plan illustrating reasonable growth potential. Submissions are reviewed by key Alliance staff and are kept confidential. 
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial resources to sustain business during the initial start-up period. 
  • Applicants should be a capable and motivated entrepreneur or team of entrepreneurs. 
  • Applicants currently operating from inadequate interim facilities such as home or garage will be given preference for available space. 
  • Non-profit organizations or agencies that have common goals with the Charleston Area Alliance in creating jobs in Charleston or the greater Kanawha Valley may be considered as a tenant.


Office suites range in size from approximately 165 square feet to 540 square feet with connecting doors allowing for ease of expanding (subject to availability). Suites located on the second and third floors offer a conventional office space look with typical ceiling tile and carpet. The fourth floor offers a mixture of ceiling styles (typical drop ceiling and ceiling clouds) and office looks that feature the buildings character. The hallways here have exposed ceilings, ductwork, brick, and bright colored walls. The conference rooms vary in size and are located throughout the facility, for use by the tenants as well as the Alliance.
