Vision 2030: Innovation/R&D

Vision: By 2030, the Kanawha Valley is a national hub of innovation supporting the intersection of chemical, energy, and environmental sciences supported by a culture of visionary entrepreneurism.

GROW

Innovation is the driver of any strong economy and entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of an innovation economy.  An innovation economy can only thrive in an ecosystem that supports a community of entrepreneurs flexing their innovative spirit together. As such, GROW was designed to enhance the skills of entrepreneurs while simultaneously building an entrepreneurial ecosystem. In its inaugural year, GROW is taking 20 entrepreneurs through a six month program that aims to grow their business and build their networks. Each co-hort of GROW has the capacity to take 20 entrepreneurs through a six month program that aims to grow their business and build their networks.

GROW includes:

  • Six monthly seminars co-led by a University of Charleston and West Virginia State University business professors as well as a local, seasoned entrepreneur.
  • 12 bi-weekly 1:1 meetings with a Small Business Development Center (SBDC) business coach.
  • Six monthly peer groups facilitated by the business coach
Applications to be part of GROW, Summer-Fall Class of 2014 are now available  http://bit.ly/1pdChaS
